I didn’t plan on becoming a REALTOR—but purpose has a way of finding you. My path began in education but I found unexpected inspiration in a teenage college student with big ambition. Her example changed my life. What started as a side hustle has become my mission: helping people build generational wealth—one home at a time.
When I got pregnant at 21, no one expected it! I was a college basketball player in college with hopes of going pro. When plans changed, I found a full-time job, babysat, and doubled up on college credits hoping to graduate early—and I did it! My motivation? Building a better life for my son, James!
After graduating, my first job was helping people receiving public assistance. I remembered what it felt like to be judged for needing help and was determined to offer compassion instead. I later decided to pursue a Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and James came with me. We lived together in a dorm room, and students babysat him while I attended classes.
After earning my Master’s we moved to Tampa where I worked in the residence hall where we also lived. During a student icebreaker, a young woman stood up and said, “I’m 18, and I’m a licensed REALTOR®.” Her confidence sparked something in me. If she could do it—I could, too. I got my real estate license in 2016 and transtioned to teaching 3rd grade to pursue real estate during the summer while teaching the rest of the year.
I loved teaching. I worked at a Title I school, where many students didn’t have access to basic necessities. I loved empowering them—and doing little things to boost their confidence. If you can convince someone of their potential, even if they lack the skills, they’ll rise to the challenge. I taught them that they were valuable, dignified, and capable of accomplishing whatever they set their minds to.
Around this time, I met Derek––he turned out to be an amazing man with a big heart. Derek and I began dating seriously, I had a job that I loved, and life was good but as the economy shifted, teaching could no longer support our needs. I began asking God, to make real estate my full-time career, and each year, He was faithful, growing my business. Still, I kept stretching myself thin, holding on to safety over obedience.
So I set a new plan in motion: a second Master’s Degree in Applied Behavior Analysis School gave me room to grow, while still honoring my passion for education and service. In 2019, Derek and I got married—and soon after, found out we were expecting our first child, together, Milan.
The timing wasn’t ideal but we managed to make it work—then came COVID. I was a mom, wife, graduate student, behavioral therapist, and was still helping folks buy and sell houses all at once. Only 10 months later, I learned I was pregnant with our third child, Tatiana. Her birth was traumatic—I ended up in the ICU, needed transfusions, and nearly lost my life. It was during that time I realized my workplace viewed me as replaceable.
“God,” I prayed, “help me find a job that pays well AND has the flexibility to allow me to grow my real estate business.” In 2022, I began recruiting veterinarians for a startup while continuing to sell homes. The job was rewarding, but national travel wore on my mental health and family. By the end of 2024, despite my best real estate year—over $18 million sold—I hit an emotional low. I knew no job was worth sacrificing my family or my health. Entrepreneurship was no longer a side hustle; it was my path forward.
In 2025, I stepped into my calling of doing only real estate! Today, I lead a thriving team, helping buyers and sellers across Florida build generational wealth. Despite the many challenges, I kept pushing forward––and it was all worth it.
I believe a safe, secure home changes everything—and every family deserves the chance to experience that. Whether you’re buying your first home, selling to level up, or navigating a tough season, I’m here to help you move forward. I view my work as a true act of service, helping buyers and sellers across Florida, build generational wealth.
